Sara Ali Khan's entry into Simmba was not easy, Rohit Shetty reveals details
Rohit Shetty's latest directorial venture Simmba is shattering box office records. Ranveer Singh starrer has ended the dry spell on ticket counters in the month of December last year. The cop drama has all the ingredients, of a typical Bollywood masala movie, be it action, comedy, drama, emotions or dance. Simmba has so far minted over Rs 173 crore and will soon touch the mark of Rs 200 crore. Simmba has become Rohit Shetty's eighth movie to enter the coveted Rs 100 crore club.
Simmba is Sara Ali Khan's second movie. She debuted in the same month with Kedarnath, co-starring Sushant Singh Rajput. Reports said that Sara used to message Rohit Shetty as she desperately wanted to be a part of the movie. In the latest interview with DNA, the director has confirmed the same. Shetty revealed that Sara sent him 'numerous' messages and he used to think, ''this kid doesn’t realise that she is doing Kedarnath''. Later, after talking to Kedarnath director Abhishek Kapoor, Shetty agreed to take Sara in his project. Shetty says he is happy that Kedarnath released first.
''Yes, she sent me numerous messages. And I was like this kid doesn’t realise that she is doing Kedarnath. Unfortunately, it was going through a rough patch at that time and got stuck. I knew I could finish my film in five months. And I was like, I don’t want my movie to come first and Gattu (Abhishek Kapoor) to feel bad. Ethically, that wouldn’t be right. And the next call was from Gattu. He said if you want to cast Sara, you see her work in Kedarnath,'' said Shetty.
