Mohit Raina is making his 'dream' Bollywood debut with Aditya Dhar's Uri, which is based on Indian Army's 2016 surgical strikes on Pakistan as a retaliation for the Uri attack. However, an interesting fact about the actor doing a film way back in 2008 is hardly known to many. On knowing that Mohit did a film with Mithun Chakraborty which was titled Don Muthu Swami, one may say that Uri is not his B-town debut film after all. But, the Devon Ke Dev Mahadev actor doesn't agree with the same and has a valid reason for it. In an exclusive interview with us, when asked which film does he consider to be his debut, the actor chose Uri. .
Wondering why? Because "many people are not aware that the film (Don Muthu Swami) never released. So, it cannot be my debut. That time, I was very new in Mumbai. I did a couple of shows with UTV. In fact, I did Antariksh which aired on Star Plus. So, the makers themselves called and informed me that they were making this movie which was the remake of Sylvester Stallone's Oscar. They wanted a new face to join the film. I said yes I am ready to do it and did that film. But unfortunately, it did not see the light of the day and I moved on to doing TV," said the actor.
Continuing his conversation with us, the actor said that he was hurt, adding, "I took that very personally and took it to my heart. I was new to Mumbai and after this, I realised, yaha kuch bhi ho Sakta hai, and got into the small screen. Further, when asked why he didn't take up films in the next 10 years, Mohit said that he got many offers during that period but that didn't interest him.
Nevertheless, now that the actor is finally making his 'actual' Bollywood debut, we wish him all the luck. Bankrolled by RSVP, Uri is scheduled to release on January 11..
