Volkswagen Passat 2020 is just as usual

Like essentially every vehicle organization, Volkswagen Passat 2020 is never again a vehicle organization. The greater part (53 percent) of its deals in the U.S. were hybrids a year ago, and that number is expanding while customary vehicle deals keep on declining. It's obviously what the individuals need of the People's Car organization, and since SUVs are increasingly gainful, it's what the organization needs.

No big surprise the new Passat, brilliant in crisp sheetmetal for 2020 that replaces each board aside from the rooftop, looks and feels basically the equivalent. VW is going through its cash somewhere else, remembering for a gigantic charge drive, so rather than a totally different Passat with fluid computerized bunches and fast reassure PC processors, we are getting a make-do re-skin of the maturing PQ stage. There is one motor and transmission combo accessible, presently four trim levels for 2020 (rather than two for 2019 and six for 2018), and practically the same old thing with the exception of a lot of things once discretionary that have now been made standard. Try not to be astounded in the event that you stroll into your VW vendor requesting to take a gander at a Passat and he says, "a Pa-what?"
In the vehicle's safeguard, in the event that you have constantly needed a genuinely huge and plain medium size car and felt the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord are excessively normal, the Hyundai Sonata and Mazda 6 are too attractive, and the Chevy Malibu just bodes well, the Passat is in fact another option.

The Passat once offered the vibe of German strength in the reasonable medium size class (fairly to the detriment of inside space) yet never again: it has sections of land of room inside just as in the storage compartment, yet its structure feels about as solid as every other person's and its driving characteristics are completely forgettable. The controlling is particularly numb and not deserving of a suspension that generally makes a not too bad showing of processing corners.

As we stated, the V-6 is gone and there's only one motor, the 2.0-liter turbo four, and one transmission, a six-speed programmed. The motor's torque is up 12 percent to 206 pound-feet, and the powertrain is said to be fit for conveying 27 mpg joined, which is not too bad for a major vehicle however a long way from the benchmark for a non-crossover. Something else, the Passat's story is one of substance: From the $23,915 base cost for a S to the $32,015 cost for the stacked SEL (counting $920 goal), VW has packed a couple of more highlights and either kept the costs the equivalent or brought down them two or three hundred bucks. That incorporates security hardware, for example, vulnerable side checking and back traffic alert, standard on even the base S. A sunroof costs $995 except if you decide on the two most elevated trim levels, in which it comes standard.
Every one of the trims get special wheels while the sportier R-Line ($29,565) gets 19-inch digital snowflake occupations just as an irate dark plastic frown stuck to the front guard. VW appears to be pretty fed to be giving you keyless beginning even in the SE trim and App-Connect, which lets you match up your telephone applications to the vehicle so you don't need to depend without anyone else genuinely moderate route framework. Yet, that is quite slight soup when you take a gander at how hard Hyundai is attempting to gain your dollars with the astonishing new Sonata.

From cameras to TV sets to coolers and lawnmowers, each item section has maturing plans that have been rearranged somewhat so they can be charged as "new." Despite the sheetmetal changes, which mellow the outside into something moving toward that of the last Ford Taurus, the Passat is the fair size portion's case of this.

Which prompts the unavoidable inquiry: Are Volkswagen Passat deals falling in light of the fact that everybody needs a SUV, or on the grounds that organizations like VW that once offered one of a kind and unmistakable items have basically abandoned autos?

CHICAGO, Illinois --

When someone goes into cardiac arrest, knowing how to perform CPR can make all the difference.

Illinois Heart Rescue, a program run by the University of Illinois at Chicago, was created in 2013 to increase survival rates for out of hospital cardiac arrests.

"If you start CPR within less than two minutes of that event, their odds of surviving have gone up at least three to five fold and that's dramatic," said Dr. Terry Vanden Hoek, the head of emergency medicine at UI Health and founder of IHR.

John Gray knows that first-hand. His then-girlfriend, Beatrice Villar, took a CPR class a month before he suffered a heart attack four years ago.

"He was lying on his back. His face was all red and he was gasping for air," she said.

She put her training into action.

"I started chest compression because I knew it was important to do that to get the blood and oxygen to the brain to keep him going," Villar said.

Gray said Villar saved his life.

"It is a second chance at life. It means the world to me literally," he said.

According to IHR, over the last several years in Illinois the survival rate for out of the hospital cardiac arrest has gone up from 2 percent to 10 percent. It's now on par with the national average.

Dr. Vanden Hoek said there's more work to be done.

"I don't think your chances of surviving should depend on what neighborhood you live in," he said.

Teri Campbell, a flight nurse and the director of IHR, said many people are surprised how easy it is to learn how to perform CPR.

"Here's the good thing. When you are doing CPR, you cannot seriously hurt somebody," she said.

And those minutes can add years to someone's life.

"I thought about one lesson learned from this event and that is try to find somebody or people who know CPR and spend as much time as you can with them and in my case that meant marrying Beatrice," Gray said.

Gucci is charging more than $A1000 for a pair of ‘dirty’ shoes.

The luxury fashion brand described the trainers — dubbed the “Screener GG sneaker” — as “vintage” and “old “school”, with an “allover distressed effect” on gucci.com.

To call them “distressed” is putting it mildly.

The bizarre 70s-inspired trainers, which are made in Italy, cost $A1175 from Gucci’s cruise 2019 collection and are worn-in all over the sole and upper.

Selling the sneakers — complete with intentional scuff marks — for that price has raised eyebrows online, where shoppers just could not get over the cost.

It’s not the first time Gucci has courted controversy over a design. The brand was widely criticised last week for selling a knit that was accused of racial overtones.

The $890 black jumper with a high neckline featured a printed pair of red “lips” that some believed was reminiscent of blackface.

In a letter to staff, Gucci creative director Alessandro Michele said he took “full accountability” for the unintended racist garment and said the furore caused him the “greatest grief”.

Michele wrote that it was not inspired by blackface but by the late Leigh Bowery, a performance artist, club promoter and fashion designer who often used flamboyant face makeup and costumes.

Regardless, Michelle said, he took “full accountability” for the sweater, which was pulled last week amid widespread criticism.

Gucci apologised, saying in a previous statement posted on Twitter that it was committed to diversity and considered it a “fundamental value to be fully upheld, respected and at the forefront of every decision we make.”

The balaclava-style sweater that covered the nose above the cutout was ridiculed on social media as insensitive and racist. It has since been pulled from sale.

Gucci also raised eyebrows last September when it sold a pair of bathers that it advised wearers not to actually get wet.

The fashion house confused online shoppers with a $470 one-piece that you can’t actually get wet.

Gucci’s so-called “sparkling swimsuit” was made of 80 per cent nylon and 20 per cent elastane.

The catch? The sold-out racer-back togs can’t “come into contact with chlorine”.

“Due to the nature of this particular fabric, this swimsuit should not come into contact with chlorine,” a statement on Gucci’s website says, in the pricey item’s product description.

There was a reason behind Jennifer Lopez’s recent diet challenge — she’s trimming down to play a stripper.

The actress, 49, went on the diet with boyfriend Alex Rodriguez. They cut out carbs and sugar for 10 days.

She said the idea of the extreme diet came from her trainer while prepping for a movie where she’ll have a tiny wardrobe.

“I’m getting ready for this movie called Hustlers and I have to play a stripper so I’m getting ready for that,” she said on The Ellen Show.

“I work out a lot, I try to stay healthy but (my trainer) was like ‘let’s do something to move the needle.’”

But when presented with the idea to eliminate bread and sweets the Shades of Blue actress wasn’t sure she was up to it.

“That’s most of my diet,” she admitted. “I was like ‘Completely? Like cold turkey?’”

However the couple successfully completed the challenge on January 31, but it didn’t come without its struggles.

“You feel like you’re in an alternate reality or universe, like you’re addicted and you think about it all the time,” she said of bread-themed daydreams, but admitted that by the time the 10 days were up her cravings weren’t too bad.

“When you go back to the sugar you don’t want it as much, it’s something you get used to a little bit,” she said. “It takes down the inflammation and you feel smaller and less swollen then you get addicted to that feeling too.”

The results can be seen in an Instagram post showing off her fit figure and sculpted abs on day nine.

Pregnant woman's sad Macca's burger

When you’re getting hangry, sometimes you’ve just got to kill that pregnancy craving.

So when Emily Ryan returned home from the McDonald’s drive-through 40 weeks pregnant and salivating over the Big Mac she was about to tuck into, she wasn’t impressed.

What was supposed to be an order without pickles and onions ended up being a sad looking meat patty with no buns on some limp lettuce and melted cheese.

“When you’re 40 weeks pregnant and the baby needs a McDonald’s Big Mac without pickle or onions and you come home from the drive-through to find this,” the Sydney woman posted on Facebook.

Mrs Ryan said she always checked the bag to see all of her items were in there but she never thought to open the boxes too before leaving the drive-through.

When she got home she realised it was the drive-through operator’s fault but she wasn’t too hard on the fast food chain for the mistake.

“It was the lunch rush and I used to work at Macca’s during my uni days so I do sympathise with how busy they were,” she told news.com.au.

“But being nine months pregnant makes you hangry.”

The soon to be mother of two said she compromised by eating half of her husband’s chips.

“The manager promised me a free one next time I go in so all is not lost,” she said.

“And yes of course I still ate it - would have been a criminal waste of special sauce not to.”

Mrs Ryan’s friends were quick to react to her post on social media, saying the error was “cruel”.

“Maybe Emily they didn’t know you were pregnant and thought ‘that lady does NOT need the bun’,” joked one.

The Ryan family is still waiting for their own bun in the oven to arrive.

Big Macs often cops the brunt of complaints from Macca’s lovers, with most usually outraged that the size doesn’t fit the ‘big’ title.

Burger King recently came out swinging after its competitor lost its Big Mac trademark in the European Union.

Burger King leapt at the chance to troll the company, and in a viral ad created an entire menu mocking Maccas, and Big Macs specifically.

The “Not Big Mac’s” menu includes meal options such as “like a Big Mac but actually big”, the “burger Big Mac wished it was” and “kind of like a Big Mac, but juicier and tastier”.

Other available options are “the anything but a Big Mac” and “the Big Mac-ish but flame grilled of course”.

News.com.au has contacted McDonald’s for comment.

Man sends failed date $9 invoice

Want to get more information about jio tv? Read this article now: Man sends failed date $9 invoice

A man has been branded “petty” after charging a date $9 for a drink he bought her when things didn’t pan out.

Angela Doyle, from Norwich in the UK, was horrified when the man she’d been for a drink with asked her to transfer £4.95 ($A8.91) for the gin and tonic she’d had on their date.

Angela went on the date earlier this week but later decided she wasn’t “feeling it” — which she explained to her date over text message, The Sun reports.

But to her horror, the man she’d been out with asked her to reimburse the money for the gin and tonic he had bought during their meet-up.

Angela’s daughter, Sophie, found it hilarious and shared the messages on Twitter, commenting: “Mum went out on a date and wasn’t feeling it, the guy fully texted her and asked her to send him £4.95 for her g&t.”

The screen grab shows the end of Angela’s message, which she finished in a friendly and amicable manner, writing: “Take care and it was nice meeting you. X.”

But it seems the date did not appreciate the rejection and replied, asking Angela to transfer £4.95 ($A8.91) to pay for her drink.

“Oh dear,” he wrote.

“It’s expensive being a man being rejected all the time.

“Please be kind enough to put £4.95 in my account to pay for your drink.”

And social media was equally stunned, with several Twitter users voicing their opinions online.

One wrote: “This is the kind of guy that adds everything up while dating and expects a refund if and when things end.”

While another said: “Think she’s had a lucky escape.”

“How petty,” another said.

jio tv

One even suggested Angela set up a standing order of “1p a month for 495 months”.

Some, however, took the opinion the date was “right”.

One wrote: “Unpopular opinion: The guy is right. If nothing came out of it, he’s entitled to his hard earned money. Would’ve said the same if the girl paid and asked for it back.”

The user quickly changed his opinion, however, after one woman pointed out: “This implies that the drink comes with ulterior motives.

“People are supposed go on dates cos they like the other person, and buy the other person a drink cos it’s a nice thing to do. It’s not a down payment on a 2nd date or sex or anything that can be refunded.”

Others thought the whole thing was hilarious, sharing funny memes in response.

Since sharing the exchange two days ago, the post has received more than 650 comments and been liked 38,000 times.

What are your thoughts on the unusual exchange? Do you think the man had a right to ask for the money back, or is the suggestion outrageous? Tell us what you think below.
